London, Ontario is making headlines in the craft beer world thanks to Anderson Craft Ales and its standout cream ale. The local brewery's cream ale has snagged the title of 'Best in Class' at the World Beer Festival in Norwich, England, cementing its status as a global beer champion.
What's really impressive is that this isn't a one-time fluke. Anderson Craft Ales' cream ale also took home a gold medal in Canada, being named the country's best in its category. Essentially, it's been a pretty good year for owner Gavin Anderson and his crew!
The secret to their award-winning brew? According to Anderson, it's all about balance. 'It hits that sweet spot where it has enough character but is not just another generic beer,' he says. This cream ale is praised for its distinctive flavor that's easy to drink without being too heavy or overwhelming.
Anderson Craft Ales has been a staple in London since its opening in 2016. Located on Elias Street, the brewery isn't just winning accolades; it's also winning hearts and tastebuds across Ontario. Their craft beers, including an IPA, gold lager, and amber, have collectively racked up over a dozen awards, both national and international.
Fans can also look forward to seasonal brews like summer pilsners and fall marzens. They even dabble in unique flavors with options like strawberry sour and dark lagers, ensuring there's something for everyone.
The brewery's success isn't limited to awards. It employs about 24 staff and produces over 1.5 million cans of beer annually. Most of these find thirsty fans across Southwestern Ontario, from Windsor to Ottawa. Not too bad for a local operation!
Scott Simmons, president of the Ontario Craft Brewers Association, believes the accolades are well-deserved. He highlighted Gavin's commitment to quality and the passion of his team as major factors in their success. 'Supporting local never tasted so good,' he adds.
The World Beer Awards had over 10 categories this year, and Anderson's cream ale clinched the top spot in the pale beers division. But the competition was tough, with international entries and numerous other Canadian breweries also taking home honors.
So next time you're in the mood for a world-class brew, perhaps skip the import aisle and head straight for some local goodness. Anderson Craft Ales is not just putting London on the map; it's reshaping it as a destination for top-notch craft beer.
