London, Ontario is now world-famous for a very special reason – Anderson Craft Ales on Elias Street snagged the title of best cream ale at the World Beer Festival in Norwich, England. That’s right, folks: the cream ale that started as a local favourite now has global recognition, and it’s all brewed right here in the Forest City!
Owner Gavin Anderson couldn't be more thrilled with the win. Anderson Craft Ales' cream ale isn't just another beer; it’s a masterpiece. 'It is definitely a great honour,' Gavin noted. He also pointed out that the cream ale had already won national awards before. It looks like this brew was destined for greatness!
What makes this cream ale stand out? Gavin thinks it's the perfect blend of character and drinkability. It's not a heavy beer, making it perfect for any occasion. Plus, it has a unique flavor that sets it apart from the many generic beers out there.
Anderson Craft Ales has been making waves in the craft beer scene since its opening in 2016. The brewery hasn't just excelled in global competitions; it has also won seven national awards, six provincial awards, and two international brewing awards. Additionally, it’s been the best of London winner for six straight years.
The brewery offers more than just its famous cream ale. Their four core beers include an IPA, gold lager, and an amber. They also brew seasonal favorites such as a summer pilsner and a fall marzen. They've brought home awards for their stouts, dark lagers, amber ales, and even a strawberry sour.
Clearly, the passion for brewing runs deep at Anderson Craft Ales. The team of 24 is producing around 450,000 cans of cream ale each year, along with over 1.5 million cans of other beers. They sell their product across Ontario but have a strong presence in Southwestern Ontario.
In the very same beer awards where they won best cream ale, the brewery also took home a gold medal for Canadian cream ale and has seen consistent success at other major beer competitions like the U.S. Open Beer Championship. Scott Simmons, the president of the Ontario Craft Brewers Association, couldn't have said it better: 'London is home to many fantastic local breweries, and supporting local never tasted so good.'
The World Beer Awards are no small feat, featuring brews from all over the globe. The competition's 'pale beers' category, where Anderson’s cream ale excelled, included 18 winners for different types of pale beers. The categories also extended to dark beers, sours, IPAs, and stouts, to name a few. Canadian breweries shone in various categories, proving that our craft beer scene is one to watch.
Every award and accolade adds another feather in Anderson Craft Ales' cap, solidifying its reputation as a top-tier brewery. From its humble beginnings to its current standing as a world-renowned brewery, Anderson Craft Ales embodies passion, quality, and community spirit. If you haven't tried their cream ale yet, you're missing out on what might just be the world's best beer!
