If you're in London, ON and haven't heard of the Forest City Sport and Social Club (FCSSC), are you even living? Founded 15 years ago, FCSSC is taking co-ed recreational leagues and social activities for adults to the next level. With participation rates skyrocketing, the club has grown from an initial 220 participants across three sports to a whopping 4,600 people each week this summer.
What’s the secret sauce? It’s simple: sports and socializing. From flag football to ultimate frisbee, and from dodgeball to pickleball, FCSSC has over 30 different sport leagues for you to choose from each season. Whether you're a total beginner or have been playing for years, there’s something for everyone.
And let’s not forget about making lifelong connections. FCSSC director Dave Ward says he often hears about people meeting their best friends, and there have even been a good number of marriages thanks to the club’s teams. Talk about scoring both on and off the field!
The club offers both outdoor and indoor leagues, perfect for whatever the Canadian weather throws your way. This fall, you can jump into shortened outdoor seasons like beach volleyball or flag football, or dive into extended indoor leagues like badminton and dodgeball.
If you’re new to a sport, FCSSC’s Rookie Leagues are your go-to. Learn the basics of volleyball, pickleball, basketball, curling, soccer, and floor hockey, all while connecting with other beginners. No experience? No problem. Ward emphasizes that the Rookie Leagues are all about making people feel comfortable as they dip their toes into new sports.
And now for the latest addition to FCSSC’s lineup - get ready for some good ol’ fashioned cornhole action! This fall, they’re rolling out a nine-week cornhole league at Game Knight Leagues, a tabletop gaming venue in London. It’s perfect for those who want to try something different while socializing with friends.
Not sold yet? How about a trampoline fitness class? FCSSC has teamed up with The Factory, an indoor entertainment center in London, to offer a fun way to get fit and bouncy simultaneously. Helping you stay active and meet new people, FCSSC is all about providing enjoyable experiences.
Registration for FCSSC’s fall leagues is closing soon. You’ve got until September 3rd (midnight) for outdoor leagues and September 10th (midnight) for indoor ones. So, what are you waiting for? Join the fun and be part of one of the most vibrant sports communities in London!
