❤️ London Review

ECONO LODGE LONDON

The Econo Lodge London, located at 636 York St., London, Ontario, is a budget hotel that promises to offer the necessary amenities for a basic stay. Unfortunately, from the moment you step into the hotel, it's apparent that even these modest expectations may not always be met.

On the plus side, Econo Lodge offers a free continental breakfast and Wi-Fi, which is nice if you're just looking for a quick bite and need to stay connected. The hotel also features a business center and meeting space, making it practical for budget-conscious business travelers. The location is convenient, with proximity to downtown London, the London Convention Centre, Western Fair, and various restaurants.

However, the condition of the rooms leaves much to be desired. Many of the rooms show signs of severe neglect. From wallpaper stapled back on the walls to exposed wires behind TVs and stained floors and couches, the initial impression can be quite off-putting. In more extreme cases, there have been reports of broken door frames, old mattresses, and even screws found in the hallway.

There are significant cleanliness issues as well. Guests have reported stains on the furniture and carpets, leaking showerheads, and a general lack of cleanliness in the bathrooms. One concerning report even noted an infestation of bed bugs, which makes one question the overall hygiene standards of the establishment.

Security doesn't seem to be a priority either. The fire hazard posed by a clutter of multiple extension cords plugged into a single outlet is alarming. The smells and general upkeep of the hotel corridors are not reassuring, reminding one of a run-down establishment rather than a welcoming lodge.

Despite these shortcomings, some guests have found the staff to be polite and willing to relocate them to better rooms when issues were brought up. This indicates a level of responsiveness, but it's perplexing why such poorly maintained rooms are available in the first place. There's also an additional $100 deposit needed for a key, which many find unreasonable given the condition of the rooms.

If you do end up staying here, be prepared for a mixed experience. Some rooms, especially the upgraded ones, might be acceptable for short stays, but the overall lack of care and maintenance casts a shadow over the entire lodging. For those looking for a more reliable and clean stay while in London, other options might be better suited, even if they come at a slightly higher cost.
