❤️ London Review
Travelodge by Wyndham London Ontario
Travelodge by Wyndham London Ontario, located at 2010 Dundas Street, has a somewhat storied history that the current management could perhaps do without. This property, which served as Blondie's Adult Entertainment mustered a brief stint known as the London Residency Inn before Travelodge took over after the pandemic. The reputation of the property appears to have not improved much, if at all, since its adult entertainment days.
Let’s address the elephant in the room first: cleanliness, or rather the stark lack of it. Guests frequently describe rooms as dirty, with brown stains on the bedsheets and burn marks from cigarettes. Some reports also mention disturbing, mysterious red marks, damp, and unwashed towels, and a pervasive bad odor. Adding to the discomfort, several rooms have malfunctioning air conditioning and lighting, with flickering bathroom lights and lamp shades missing. It's not an exaggeration to call the room conditions here appalling.
Booking a stay here is a grave risk, especially if the prevalence of old, unclean towels and musty smells isn't off-putting enough. Hallways reek and one might encounter unwelcoming sights like trash and an individual living with dogs. The minimal effort in basic housekeeping extends to corners with dirt and mold infestations in shower areas, making stays here far from pleasant and sanitary.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience here might involve more than the dated interior—possibly a breach in privacy and security. Doors improperly closing, recently patched up from what looks like prior forced entries, plus inconsistent operational practices such as failing to collect IDs or vehicle information during check-in. Coupled with unattended front desks, and disinterested staff, it's clear that service isn't a strong selling point here. Anecdotes of wrong email notifications and room number mix-ups further underline the lack of operational efficiency present within this hotel.
On a slightly brighter note, some guests did acknowledge friendly staff and ample parking spots, but these minor positives are overshadowed by more critical issues such as unwelcoming room odors and the horrendous state of interiors that some guests believe qualify the location as a temporary home for the homeless. The pervasive level of apathy towards guest experience speaks volumes.
The amenities offered by Travelodge by Wyndham London Ontario include a 24-hour front desk service and free parking but brace for the likelihood that these conveniences will do little to elevate a stay fraught with hygiene and service issues. The supposed four-star listing efforts underscore this point but in reality, the experiences narrated by guests paint a starkly different picture, one more befitting a lower tier establishment.
In this price range, especially with such alarming reviews, anyone would be better off seeking other accommodations, lengthening their stay risk-free and without foregoing basic hygiene and hospitality standards.
