Not far away, at Ella P. Stewart Academy for Girls, the first day was all about girl power. The ‘Pride from Bow to Toe’ event saw educators and volunteers from Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Inc. welcoming students with pom-poms, creating an infectious atmosphere of positivity and empowerment. Principal Shannon Carter described the energy as 'electric,' a sentiment echoed by the smiles on the faces of the young girls.

Principal Willie Ward of Martin Luther King Jr. Academy highlighted the school's focus on attendance and safety for the new year. Ensuring punctuality and maintaining a secure environment for students are top priorities, with teachers and staff keenly aware of their critical roles in these areas.

TPS Superintendent Dr. Romules Durant emphasized the district's push towards college and career readiness, aiming to help students identify their strengths and align them with potential career opportunities.
