Toledo's Arts Commission is on the lookout for talented artists to bring new life to Inez Nash Park with fresh, vibrant designs for their shoot-around court. If you're an artist with a vision and a knack for public art, this is your moment to shine!

The court's makeover includes a 50x30 feet surface and five backboards, creating a canvas of roughly 1170 square feet. Three artists or teams will be selected by a Design Review Board to propose their renditions, with each finalist earning a cool $2,000 stipend.

The project is open to all U.S.-based artists aged 18 and older, whether you're flying solo or teaming up with fellow creatives from different disciplines. The aim? Integrate public art seamlessly into the park while capturing the community's spirit and input.

Think you're up to the challenge? You'll need to submit your qualifications online. Here’s the timeline to mark in your calendar:

- Aug. 21: Request for Qualifications Launch

- Sept. 24: Deadline for RFQ Submissions

- Sept. 25: Review of Applications Begins

- Oct. 17: Finalists Notified

- Oct. 29: Finalists Visit Site

- Dec. 3: Finalists Present Proposals

- Dec. 17: Winning Proposals Announced

Winning designs won't hit the ground until 2025, so there's plenty of time to brainstorm and collaborate.

Beyond this exciting project, The Arts Commission is no stranger to breathing new life into Toledo through art. By fostering creativity and professional growth among artists of all skill levels and backgrounds, they aim to make the city a vibrant and engaging place for everyone.

One of their featured projects, the Broadway Street Corridor, is a collaboration between The Arts Commission, the City of Toledo Transportation Division, and other local organizations. It focuses on artistically designed infrastructure enhancements set to revamp the Old South End.

Educational outreach is also a key facet of their mission. The 'ABC's of Public Art Book & Field Guide' introduces art to younger generations while creating a map to explore Toledo’s public art scene. It's a blend of fun, learning, and creativity, geared towards both kids and adults.
