Hey Toledo artists! Get ready to flex your creative muscles as The Arts Commission and the City of Toledo’s Parks Department team up for an exciting new project at Inez Nash Park. They’re on the lookout for talented artists to design a dynamic and inspiring new shoot-around court for the park.

The search is officially on, and the Design Review Board will select three artists or teams to propose complete designs for the court's surface and each of the five backboards. The court spans 50 feet by 30 feet — that’s about 1170 square feet, plenty of room for your artistic vision.

Each of the three finalists will snag a $2,000 stipend to develop their proposals. This project is open to all U.S. artists aged 18 and older, whether you’re flying solo or working with a diverse team. Experience in integrating public art into park environments? Into incorporating community input into your work? This gig is calling your name!

Here's the timeline you need to know: Starting August 21st, artists can submit their qualifications online via The Arts Commission website. The deadline for submissions is September 24th. From there, the review process begins, with finalists being notified by October 17th. On October 29th, finalists will visit the site to draw inspiration and develop their proposals. Final proposals will be presented on December 3rd, with the winning designs announced on December 17th.

The winning designs won’t just get a warm round of applause — they'll be installed in 2025, leaving a lasting creative mark on Toledo. Got questions? Check out The Arts Commission website for more details.

So, what are you waiting for? This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your creativity and contribute to Toledo's vibrant public art scene. Don’t miss out — get those design ideas flowing and submit your qualifications by September 24th!
