October marks Infant Safe Sleep Awareness Month and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department (TLCHD) is dedicated to spreading the word in a meaningful and impactful way.
In an effort to promote safe sleep practices and reduce infant mortality due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexplained Infant Death (SUID), TLCHD is hosting two vibrant community baby showers.
The first event is happening on October 3rd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Toledo Main Hospital Auditorium. Expecting parents, new parents, and caregivers can look forward to a delightful evening filled with food, games, raffles, and prizes—all while gaining crucial safety information.
The second baby shower is scheduled for October 13th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YWCA East Office on Starr Ave. This event not only aims to educate but also to connect families with a wealth of resources and local community support.
TLCHD emphasizes the importance of awareness and support for families in preventing SIDS and SUID. By fostering knowledge and community connections, they hope to contribute to a safer environment for infants in Toledo and beyond.
It's a family affair! Mothers, fathers, foster parents, partners, and expecting parents are all invited. It's about creating a network of trust and shared learning for everyone's well-being.
These baby showers are more than just an event—they're a testament to TLCHD's commitment to preventing infant fatalities through education and proactive community engagement.
October also features the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month Toolkit, which is full of valuable information and resources. This toolkit can assist caregivers and healthcare providers in spreading the message of safe infant sleep practices.
Supporting families and educating caregivers isn't just an October initiative; it's a long-term commitment by TLCHD to improve infant care and safety across Toledo.
