In Toledo, OH, a tragic series of house fires has left the community on edge. It began with a blaze that consumed the home of 65-year-old Johnnie Jones while he was recovering in the hospital. The fire, which started in June, quickly spread from a car on Hausman Avenue to Jones' house and another neighboring property. Authorities have deemed the fire suspicious and are investigating its cause.

Johnnie Jones, who was rushed out of his hospital bed by his daughters when they learned of the fire, arrived to find his house engulfed in flames. He expressed feeling lost and deeply affected by the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability. The fire not only destroyed his home but took away a significant part of his life.

During this challenging time, Jones has been staying with his daughter, who has provided him with a place to sleep and watch TV. Despite the devastating loss, the support from his family has given him a sense of home and comfort.

The local community has rallied around Jones and his family. The Yark Automotive Group, along with 13 Action News, presented the family with a check for $1,300 to aid in their recovery. Although Jones was unable to attend the presentation due to needing further medical care, the gesture highlights the city's spirit of solidarity and support.

In a related incident, firefighters responded to another suspicious fire on Curtis Street. Crews arrived before 6:00 a.m. to find the house fully engulfed, with flames even making their way into a neighboring home's window. Though the Curtis Street house is considered a total loss, and the city's buildings division is planning its demolition, it's a relief that no one was hurt during the incident.

Toledo Fire and Rescue crews worked tirelessly, taking defensive measures to protect adjacent homes and battling the blaze for 20-30 minutes. The fire, which originated in the basement, remains under investigation as authorities seek to uncover what triggered it.

These fires have sparked concern and sadness among Toledo residents, but they also highlight the resilience and support that defines the community. As the investigations continue, the city takes solace in its collective strength and the willingness to help those in need during challenging times.
