Could Promenade Park in downtown Toledo become the city's next big concert hotspot? An upcoming study is set to explore this very idea. The Lucas County Commissioners have greenlit funds to partner with ConnecToledo for an in-depth look into turning the park into a more permanent concert venue. This initiative builds on the successful concert series hosted this year. The study will analyze costs associated with constructing a stage, seating, and permanent dressing rooms, with plans to issue requests for proposals to find a suitable operator.
This latest study isn't coming out of thin air. It builds on a previous one that identified Promenade Park as downtown Toledo's ideal spot for an amphitheater. According to deputy county administrator Matt Heyrman, the new study aims to expand on this earlier research by evaluating necessary enhancements, developing a site program, estimating associated costs, and outlining an RFP process for a potential operator.
Securing Promenade Park as a permanent concert venue isn't a done deal yet, but it’s generating a lot of buzz. If everything clicks into place, public investment might be needed to improve the park's infrastructure, according to ConnecToledo President Paul Toth. It could be a significant step forward in enhancing Toledo's live music scene.
