Get Ready for the 2024 Goodwill Pass It On Challenge!

High school football season in Northwest Ohio just got even more exciting with the return of the Goodwill 'Pass it On Challenge'! Thanks to 13abc, this unique competition fire ups communities to rally for a great cause. Local high schools are setting aside their on-field rivalries and competing off the field in a massive donation drive to benefit Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio.

So, what's the deal? Each week, two high schools compete to collect the most donations. Anything from clothing to household items and furniture is fair game. All donations help fund job training and job placement programs for individuals facing barriers to employment in the area.

You’ll find a Goodwill Pass It On Challenge trailer stationed at each participating school between Monday and Thursday from 2 pm to 6 pm during their competition week. If you’re making a donation, you might as well snap a pic and tag @GoodwillNow on social media. Those pics are pure gold – each one is worth an extra 100 pounds added to the school's total!

The whole town can get involved. Students, teachers, parents – everyone can contribute. Plus, for some extra incentive, a receipt for your tax-deductible donation will be provided on-site. By Thursday at 6 pm, the school with the heaviest donation load wins that week’s challenge. Fridays are extra exciting because the winner is announced on 13 Action News!

The top-performing school each week walks away with a $500 scholarship, while the runner-up isn’t left out in the cold either – they get a $250 scholarship. It’s a win-win all around, with schools bagging scholarships and Goodwill getting much-needed supplies for their programs.

Week 1, Aug. 19-22: Defiance vs. Napoleon. Napoleon already scored big with 8,120 lbs. against Defiance’s 4,740 lbs.

Week 2, Aug. 26-29: Lake vs. Northwood

Week 3, Sept. 3-5: Whitmer vs. Clay

Week 4, Sept. 9-12: Rossford vs. Otsego

Week 5, Sept. 16-19: Bowling Green vs. Northview

Week 6, Sept. 23-26: Delta vs. Swanton

Week 7, Sept. 30 - Oct. 3: Genoa vs. Maumee

Week 8, Oct. 7-10: Scott vs. Rogers

Week 9, Oct. 14-17: Bryan vs. Wauseon

Week 10, Oct. 21-24: Perrysburg vs. Anthony Wayne
