Lake Township just got a serious upgrade in the education department. On Sunday, Lake Local Schools officially cut the ribbon on their brand new $36 million elementary school, and the community can't stop buzzing about it.
This sleek two-story building is set to open its doors to PreK through fifth graders starting September 3rd. With 49 classrooms, STEM and art spaces, dedicated music and band rooms, and even three separate recess areas, this place is fully decked out.
The whole project kicked off after voters approved a levy back in November 2021. It turns out, replacing the old school from the 1960s was a no-brainer. The old building was demolished in July, paving the way for this modern marvel of a learning environment.
Superintendent Marjoe Cooper couldn't be happier. He mentioned that the new school is designed to elevate the students' learning experiences in ways that the old building simply couldn't. Think air conditioning, flexible common areas like 'The Cafenasium' (a genius blend of cafeteria and gymnasium), and more parking spaces for the whole Lake Schools Campus.
The ribbon-cutting event wasn't just a formality. It was followed by an open house, where community members got an exclusive first look at the 91,000-square-foot facility. Just imagine the creativity and growth that'll brew in those outdoor learning spaces connected to the STEM and art rooms.
So, if you’re a parent in the Lake Local Schools district, rest easy knowing your kiddos will be spending their days in a school that's top-of-the-line. And for the rest of Toledo, this is just another example of how our community is always striving to improve.
