Lake Local Schools Unveil State-of-the-Art Elementary Building

Big things are happening in Lake Township, Ohio, and if you’re part of the Lake Local Schools community, you’re about to witness something truly special! This past Sunday, community leaders and school officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of a stunning new elementary school.

This isn’t just any school building; it’s a $36 million project that promises to revolutionize the educational experience for PreK through fifth-grade students. Set to open its doors for the new academic year on September 3rd, this two-story marvel is already the talk of the town.

The shiny new school was made possible thanks to a levy approved by voters back in November 2021. It replaces the old, worn-out building from the 1960s, which was finally demolished in July. The Lake Superintendent, Marjoe Cooper, expressed the collective excitement of the community, emphasizing how the new building is a game-changer for elementary education.

So, what makes this new school so special? For starters, it’s huge – a whopping 91,000 square feet! It comes with 49 classrooms, a massive upgrade from the 29 in the old school. The learning environment has been reimagined to include outdoor learning spaces specifically designed for STEM and art classes.

The school's new amenities are quite impressive: dedicated music and band rooms, three recess spaces, and an air-conditioned 'Cafenasium' that serves as a cafeteria, gym, and event venue all in one. There’s even increased parking space, making drop-offs and pick-ups smoother for everyone involved.

Parents and students had the opportunity to explore the brand-new facility during an open house event held right after the ribbon cutting. You could feel the sense of pride and anticipation in the air as families toured classrooms and explored the innovative features of their new school.
