Lake Local Schools Unveils Stunning $36M Elementary School

Lake Township in Ohio is buzzing with excitement as Lake Local Schools introduced their brand-new $36 million elementary school. This two-story educational masterpiece is set to welcome PreK through fifth grade students when classes commence on September 3rd.

The birth of this state-of-the-art school was made possible by the approval of a levy by voters in November 2021. This initiative was critical as it facilitated the replacement of the outdated school, which had been serving the community since the 1960s and was ultimately demolished in July.

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the school's doors. The event, held on a sunny Sunday afternoon, featured district leaders and an enthusiastic community. Following the ceremony, an open house provided a first glimpse into the new facilities.

Superintendent Marjoe Cooper couldn't contain their excitement, emphasizing how the new school vastly enhances the elementary education experience. With the focus on nurturing young minds, every aspect of the building is crafted to boost students' learning potential.

Covering an impressive 91,000 square feet, the new school boasts 49 classrooms, a significant increase from the 29 in the old building. There are specialized STEM and art classrooms that extend learning beyond the walls with outdoor spaces.

Music and band enthusiasts are in for a treat with dedicated rooms designed just for them. Additionally, three separate recess spaces ensure kids from PreK to first grade have age-appropriate playgrounds to enjoy.

One of the standout features is the versatile 'Cafenasium,' a flexible area that serves multiple purposes. Students will gather there for breakfast and lunch, engage in gym classes, and enjoy various special events, making it a true heartbeat of the school.

Comfort is also a priority with the new building equipped with air conditioning, a luxury the former school lacked. Increased parking facilities enhance convenience for parents and staff alike, completing the comprehensive upgrade of the Lake Schools Campus.
