Exciting news for Lucas County drivers! The Monclova Township roundabout at the intersection of Holloway and Salisbury is expected to open this Thursday. After much anticipation and a bit of drama with some folks sneaking into the construction area, the Lucas County Engineer’s Office is finally ready to unveil the new traffic feature.

This roundabout is part of a broader initiative to improve traffic flow and safety in the area. It's one of the many infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the driving experience for the local community. So, if you've been dreading your daily commute, this new addition might just make your drive a tad smoother.

But that's not all! There's another roundabout in the pipeline. The Lucas County Engineer’s Office, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is set to start construction on a new roundabout at the intersection of Monclova Road and Wilkins Road in June 2026. This project includes everything from pavement reconstruction and widening to drainage improvements and landscaping.

This upcoming roundabout at Monclova and Wilkins is set to be completed by November 2026 and will require a 45-day intersection closure. Advanced warning and detour information will be provided, so you'll have plenty of time to plan your new route.

The project will occur partially within Oak Openings Preserve, a protected recreational property. To minimize any potential harm, measures will be put in place, and the public will be duly informed ahead of time. So, nature lovers can rest easy knowing that the area will be handled with care.

There's also another roundabout proposal in the works for the intersection of Providence-Neapolis-Swanton Road and Archbold-Whitehouse Road. This project is scheduled to start in June 2026 and finish by November 2026 as well, involving new asphalt, concrete curbs, drainage improvements, and more. For this project, a small piece of Maumee State Forest will be used, and the public is invited to provide feedback until September 24, 2024.

So if you're in the Toledo area, get ready for some significant changes to your routes. These roundabouts are more than just concrete circles; they're steps towards a safer and more efficient driving experience. Stay tuned, and drive safe!
