Hey Toledo! Big news for our community—on August 9, Lucas County Sheriff Mike Navarre, along with officials from Springfield and Monclova Townships, celebrated the grand opening of a new Sheriff's Office precinct in Swanton, located at 10391 Airport Highway.
This new precinct is a game-changer for how law enforcement operates in our area. Previously, the road patrol was based out of the airport, while detectives were situated 30 miles away in Downtown Toledo. This distance made it challenging for streamlined operations and effective community policing.
By bringing both road patrol and detective operations under one roof, Sheriff Navarre aims to improve the efficiency and cohesiveness of law enforcement efforts. According to him, this is how police departments should function: connected and accessible to the community they serve.
One of the key benefits of this new location is its accessibility. Situated strategically on Airport Highway, it makes it easier for community members to reach out for assistance, fostering a stronger relationship between citizens and law enforcement.
The celebration not only marked the opening of the building but also stood as a testament to the collaborative efforts of various local townships and the Sheriff's Office to prioritize public safety.
As the precinct starts operating, residents can expect quicker response times and more integrated policing, which should make Swanton and the surrounding areas even safer.
So, if you find yourself near 10391 Airport Highway, know that there’s a new beacon of safety and justice right in your neighborhood. Here’s to a safer, more connected Toledo!
