Promenade Park in downtown Toledo might be stepping up its game in the live music scene. Lucas County Commissioners have given the green light to fund a new study, in collaboration with ConnecToledo, to explore the park's potential as a permanent concert venue. Anyone who's enjoyed the concert series there this year can imagine the possibilities, right?

The study aims to dive deep into what's needed to transform Promenade Park into a top-tier amphitheater. Think stage upgrades, seating arrangements, and even permanent dressing rooms for the performers. They'll eventually put out a call for proposals to find an operator who can make this dream a reality.

This is building on past research that already identified Promenade Park as a prime spot for concerts. Now, they'll be taking things a step further by figuring out the costs associated with these enhancements and creating a comprehensive plan for the venue's future.

But, don’t get too excited just yet. It's not a done deal. There are still some hurdles to jump over. ConnecToledo President Paul Toth mentioned that public investment might be necessary for the infrastructure improvements. So, there might be a bit of politicking and budgeting to get through before the project can officially kick off.

If you’re a concert junkie, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on this. Imagine having a high-quality, permanent spot for concerts right in the heart of Toledo. No more temporary stages and makeshift setups—just pure, unadulterated live music goodness.

And speaking of concerts, the summer lineup at Promenade Park has been pretty epic. Flo Rida, 80s Rock Invasion, Mark Farner's American Band, Palomazo Norteño, Yachtley Crew, TLC, and Here Come the Mummies have all graced the stage this season. It’s the variety that keeps everyone coming back—from hip-hop to rock to funk.

Flo Rida kicked things off with his infectious beats and chart-toppers like 'Low' and 'My House.' The crowd was going wild, and it set a high bar for the rest of the series. Then, 80s Rock Invasion brought together legends like Stephen Pearcy of Ratt and Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses, making it a night for the ages.

Mark Farner's American Band was a highlight during the Toledo Jeep Fest, adding a layer of nostalgia and rock vibes to the celebration. Palomazo Norteño's evening was a hit among fans of norteño music, offering a different flavor to the concert series.

Yachtley Crew brought their unique nautical-themed soft rock and had everyone swaying to the mellow tunes of the 70s and 80s. TLC, with their timeless hits like 'Waterfalls' and 'No Scrubs,' proved that their appeal spans generations. And who could forget Here Come the Mummies, who closed out the summer with their signature 'Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave'?

With such a diverse lineup, it isn't hard to see why there's a push to make Promenade Park a permanent fixture for live music. Toledo's outdoor music scene is thriving, and having a dedicated venue would only enhance that experience further.

So, if the study goes well and the funding gets approved, we might just see Promenade Park transform into Toledo’s premier spot for live music. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for more amazing concert experiences in the glass city!
