❤️ Toledo Review
Holiday Inn Express Toledo North, an IHG Hotel
First impressions of the Holiday Inn Express Toledo North bring you to a conveniently located hotel off I-75 and several major highways. The hotel’s modern lobby gives off a welcoming vibe, which is promising as you step in with your luggage from their free parking area. The hotel caters to both business and leisure travelers but seems to have more work to do to meet the expectations set by the Holiday Inn Express brand.
Rooms at this location are a mixed bag. Some guests report that they found their rooms clean and updated, complete with the brand’s signature flat-panel HDTVs, comfortable beds, and essential amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi, a refrigerator, and a microwave. On the flip side, other travelers have experienced significant cleanliness issues and dated room features. Complaints range from dirty floors and sticky surfaces to an overall unpleasant smell in some rooms and common areas.
As for amenities, the hotel offers an indoor pool, fitness center, business center, and two meeting spaces which make it quite versatile for different types of guests. However, the pool appears to be a major letdown for some due to excessive chlorine levels and poor water clarity. While the fitness center and business center were generally appreciated, these areas could benefit from more consistent upkeep.
Breakfast service has been another area of contention. Although advertised as a complimentary hot breakfast, many found it subpar with poor restocking practices and limited selection, sometimes lacking core items like eggs and bagels. For frequent visitors of the Holiday Inn Express, this experience is a notable deviation from their expected standard.
Guest relations are a surprising dichotomy for this hotel. The front desk staff frequently receive praise for their helpfulness and friendliness, often going the extra mile to resolve issues. Despite this, other staff interactions, particularly in public areas like the lobby, have been less favorable. Instances of overheard derogatory comments about guests and unprofessional behaviors like folding towels in dining areas suggest areas for improvement in customer service training.
While there are redeeming qualities like the hotel's proximity to local attractions such as the Toledo Speedway and excellent freeway access, these aspects alone aren't enough to overshadow some significant operational flaws. For a brand like Holiday Inn Express, which promises a certain level of comfort and service, ensuring consistent cleanliness and professional behavior should be paramount.
