❤️ Toledo Review

Miami Suites Hotel

Miami Suites Hotel in Toledo, previously known as the Days Inn, has had a turbulent past. A year ago, the property was rife with complaints about criminal activity, poor infrastructure, and dreadful guest experiences. The current owner, Patsy Mahadeo, purchased the property in 2022 and has since been working to revamp the hotel, aiming to elevate what has long been a difficult legacy to overcome.

The hotel's transformation is certainly noticeable but remains a work in progress. The smoke-scented carpets have been replaced by modern flooring, and the bathrooms are now updated and retiled. Basic amenities like free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and complimentary breakfast are available, which go a long way in modernizing the guest experience. Additionally, accessible rooms and parking have been added to ensure inclusivity.

However, not everything is rosy. Despite the improvements, many rooms remain in dire condition. Reports of cockroaches, mold, and broken facilities are still commonly cited. Guests have also complained about cleanliness issues, with some finding cigarette ashes and dirty linen upon check-in. The sliding doors do not lock, which raises safety concerns. The Wi-Fi often fails, and interactions with the front desk have been described as unpleasant, sometimes outright rude.

On a positive note, Mahadeo has implemented a new $100 deposit policy aimed at pre-screening guests, and the hotel no longer tolerates drug activities on its premises. This shift is already making a noticeable difference in community sentiments, and the hotel plans to reach its full potential by the end of this year, with an anticipated grand reopening.

For now, Miami Suites Hotel is a mixed bag. It's clear that the current owner has great ambitions for the property, but there is still a considerable journey ahead to meet even the basic expectations of today’s travelers.
